A Year of Praxis

It’s official, Praxis Placemaking Studio is a year old. Launched at the end of May of last year, Praxis was created as a way to combine a deep passion of placemaking and branding with years of working in architecture and design, but more importantly, our goal was to create a multi-disciplinary studio that provides full service design work both in the private and public sectors.

This past year has been so much more and I’m excited that with each new client, we are continually being influenced, inspired, and interconnected. We love a year-end round-up, so we’ve put together a list of Nine Reasons It Was A Good Year that we’re proud of and we’re extremely energized about what's to come.

Nine Reasons It Was A Good Year

  1. We gave Golden West a brand refresh and designed their interior overhaul.

  2. In collaboration with SCRD, we designed and installed ‘First Push’ for the Baltimore Vision Zero campaign with Baltimore City’s Department of Transportation.

  3. We’ve been diligently working alongside Cohere on a shipping container branding and design for the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

  4. You’ll find us teaching at Morgan State University School of Architecture and Urban Planning and we are excited to return this Fall.

  5. We lead a student workshop at Rhawnhurst School for Design Philadelphia’s Architecture Week.

  6. Bright Brothers and Praxis teamed up to develop a placemaking design kit for Philly ❤️ 250.

  7. We designed a wayfinding suite for the Park To Broad Arts & Business District — inspiring visitors to explore the district’s best offerings this summer and beyond.

  8. We updated our team to include our multidisciplinary collaborators — highlighting the Praxis collective ethos.

  9. We made countless new friends, collaborators, and connections, and cannot wait to continue on this upward trajectory with you all.

Between client work, volunteering, and building a network of connections in placemaking, it has been an incredible journey so far and we’re looking forward to the evolution of Praxis Placemaking Studio in the next year. A huge thank you to all who have supported us and as always, reach out for your next design project — whether that's a public art installation, signage for your district, or visioning for your next big restaurant or small business space, we’re here to help.
